The Basics

Third, you need to register for Shopify if you’re using their platform to host your store. You can do this through the link in the dashboard.

With these three elements in place, you’ll be able to run your store smoothly from the WordPress dashboard.

Step 1: Add The Blog Homepage

If you already have a blog with content or are planning on blogging about your store’s products, you can add a special homepage for your blog to your landing page. You can use the standard blogger home page or create your own design.

Creating a custom design is simple. Just go to Layout –> Blogger Template, and you’ll see a variety of templated that you can use for your blog. Some of the options include:

If you have a large product range, you can create a separate product page for each item in your range. You can also create a product page with a scrolling vertical layout similar to a blog post to show off your entire product range.

When editing a product page, you can use the bulk of the space for displaying the product range. Just remember that when a customer clicks on an item in your range, they’ll be taken to a page with more details about that item.

To add a navigation bar at the top of the page, simply type the words “Menu” or “Navigation bar” into the search bar and press enter. You’ll then see a dropdown with a variety of options for adding a navigation bar to your product pages.

If you have a social media account for your store, you can add social media icons to your product pages to promote your accounts on various platforms.

To add social media icons, go to Design –> Social Icons and you’ll see a bulk uploader where you can upload the icons you want to use. To add a Twitter icon, for example, go to Design –> Twitter Icon and choose the desired size (32×32, 64×64, or 128×128 pixels). Then, just click and drag the icon onto your product page where you want it to appear.

Facebook, Instagram, and any other relevant icons are also simple to add.
