Clickfunnels is a popular software product used for creating online stores. It was initially created for marketers but has since evolved into a product that anyone can use. One of the reasons why it’s become so popular is because it integrates with various platforms and methods of payment so that you don’t have to pick one particular method of payment when checking out.

If you’ve ever used Clickfunnels, you may have noticed that when creating an online store you’re asked at some point to choose a payment method. That’s because Clickfunnels has partnered with various payment providers including Stripe, Square, and PayPal to allow users to checkout with any method of payment they choose.

If you’ve used any of those payment methods, you may have noticed that when your transaction is completed they say something like this:

“Thanks for checking out the @nameofstore using the @nameofpaymentmethod. We’ve never used @nameofpaymentmethods before and have no idea what they are, but we’re happy to accept them as a form of payment because they’re easy to remember and they make paying for products easier for our customers”

If that sounds interesting, continue reading to learn more about how you can test the PayPal integration within Clickfunnels.

Setting Up The Test Plan

Before you begin your test, it’s important to make sure that you’ve considered everything. First, you’ll need to decide whether you want to use real money or test credits when paying for the products. You’ll also need to consider how long you want to test the integration for and whether you want to use manual or automatic testing. Finally, you’ll need to decide on the number of products you want to purchase and how frequently you’ll be testing.

If you have a website that gets a lot of traffic and you want to see how PayPal behaves with high traffic, you’ll need to test the integration under high load to ensure that it handles all the traffic that it can. You should also consider using a service like Google Tag Manager that can automatically track and report on the performance of your campaigns so that you know exactly how well the PayPal integration is performing at any given time.

Step 1: Log In To Your PayPal Account

Before you begin testing, you’ll need to log in to your PayPal account and consider all the charges that belong to it. You can also use this step to withdraw any money that you might still have in your account from a previous transaction. By doing this, you won’t have any money left over when testing so if you run out of funds while testing, you’ll have to discontinue the activity until you have more money in your account.

Once you’ve logged in to your PayPal account and reviewed the list of recent transactions, you can move on to step 2.

Step 2: Create A New Purchase

With PayPal, you can create a new purchase with just one click. When creating a new purchase, you want to consider what amount you want to spend, the frequency of your transactions (i.e. single purchase or recurring), and whether you want to pay with credit or cash. You can create a new purchase automatically using one of PayPal’s online tools such as the Personal PayPal Account manager or the Business Manager if you have an incorporated company (i.e. LLP or Corporation).

In the example below, we’ll create a new purchase using the Personal PayPal Account manager. If you don’t have a PayPal account, click here to create one.

When you first log in to the Personal PayPal Account manager, you’ll see a welcome page with links to other useful resources like FAQs and a Learning Center. To continue to the next step, click the button circled in red.

Step 3: Specify The Store Name

Clickfunnels will automatically try to guess the name of your store based on your previous online stores. If you’ve registered an account with Clickfunnels, you can simply select the store that you’ve created and continue to step 4.

Since we don’t want our test to be named after our real store, we’ll type in “Store Tested Name” in the Name field and click Save.

Step 4: Choose A Payment Method

Clickfunnels will now ask you to choose a payment method. Similar to creating a new purchase, you can choose from one of the integrated payment methods or you can use your bank account to make a payment. The most popular and simplest payment method to use is PayPal. You can click here to be taken directly to that option within the Clickfunnels dashboard.

If you decide to use PayPal as your payment method, you don’t have to do anything else. Simply choose PayPal as your payment method and continue to step 5.

Step 5: Review The Confirmation Page

When you reach step 5, you’ll see a confirmation screen similar to the one below.

“Thanks for choosing @nameofpaymentmethod. We’ve received your order and processed it. Please note that due to the high volume of orders we receive daily, it might take a little while to process your order.”

If you’ve ever used PayPal before, you’ll know that they can take several days to process a transaction. To speed up the process, you can contact PayPal support directly from within the Clickfunnels dashboard. Just click the link at the bottom of the confirmation page to get technical support or click the Contact Us button to find customer support.

Step 6: Track Your Order History

Clickfunnels keeps track of all your orders in the Dashboard area of your account. You can view all your orders by clicking on the Orders button in the top bar. If you want to keep track of your orders separately from your PayPal transactions, you can do so by creating a new order in the system.

You should also look into purchasing a third-party app that can import your PayPal transactions so that they’re also tracked within the Clickfunnels system. Some of the popular apps that can do this are Shoeboxed, Spreed, and YNAB (You Need A Budget).

PayPal Integration Test

The last step of the PayPal integration test is to review the order details. Above the order total, you’ll see a blue box with the words, “Clickfunnels Product”. This is a special section of the page that only shows up when you’re using a product from Clickfunnels.

This product will credit your PayPal account with the payment amount you enter here. To conclude the test, click the button circled in red below.

If you followed the steps correctly, you should now be able to click the button circled in red below to conclude the test.

Congratulations! You’ve completed the PayPal integration test. To view your test results from within the Clickfunnels dashboard, click the button circled in red below.

Once you’ve reviewed your test results, you can move on to the next step or click here to return to the homepage.
