What is Facebook?

Facebook is more than just a social media platform. In 2020, the world’s largest and most popular social media platform is also a data platform. Why should you integrate with Facebook?

Well, if you want to reach the largest audience possible, you should definitely integrate with Facebook. With more than 2 billion monthly active users, you can bet that there’s at least one person on Facebook who’s interested in your product (or service).

Create An Account

As we mentioned above, Facebook is more than just a social media platform. In fact, you can use the platform to create your very own mini-app store. Just like Apple has its App Store, Facebook has its “iOS App Store.” To get started, navigate to Apps in the Facebook sidebar and click Create next to the app you wish to embed.

Once you’ve created the app, you can click Publish to make it live on your Facebook page.

Add App To Page Posts

Once you’ve published an app, you can add it to your page posts. Just click on the little gear symbol in the upper-right corner of the app’s Facebook page and select the Post to Page option.

You can then copy the special link for your page and share it with your followers.

Configure The App

Once you’ve shared the post link for your page, click on it to be taken to your page’s “settings.” In the upper-right corner of this screen, you can click Edit to view the documentation of the app you just added.

You can configure your app here by adjusting its settings, such as its cover photo, description, and more.

Get The HTML Code

From the Edit page, you can also get the HTML code for the app. This is useful for those who wish to integrate the app with their website. Just click on the little gear symbol in the upper-right corner of the Apps section of your Facebook page and select Apps from the menu. Then, on the resulting page, simply copy and paste the code for your app.

Embed Code On Your Website

Once you’ve copied the HTML code for your app, you can paste it on your website. But how do you get the code? In 2020, there are a variety of services that you can use to integrate with Facebook. We will discuss two of them below:

1. RSS Feeds

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. This is a format that allows users to follow headlines and get notified when new content is added to a website. RSS is a popular option because it’s easy to use and requires no special software to be read by a user. If you’ve ever used RSS, you know how easy it is to subscribe to channels and follow popular websites. Some examples of popular RSS feeds are Tech Radar’s RSS feed, Venture Beat’s RSS feed, and Inc.’s own RSS feed.

Because RSS is so easy to use, you can create an RSS feed for almost any website or blog article. When you create an RSS feed for a website, you are essentially creating a Twitter account for that website. As your website’s curator, you can add content to your feed as frequently as you want and at any time you want. Your website’s audience will then be able to follow your curated content via RSS.

2. Facebook Events

Facebook events are similar to RSS feeds, but they are integrated directly into the main Facebook app. You can create an event on Facebook and then invite people to it. Once you’ve created the event, you can adjust its details, add more people to the event, and even send out invitations to the event.

While events are pretty neat because they are integrated directly into the main Facebook app, they have some disadvantages. For example, you cannot adjust the event’s details after you’ve sent out invitations (and you can’t control the topics people will discuss at the event).
