If you’re looking for a simple way to create an online sales page without the hassle of hiring a developer, then look no further. In this article, you’re going to learn the exact same process that I went through to create a sales page for my real estate business. It doesn’t get any simpler than this. And the best part is that it only takes about 15 minutes to set up. So, let’s get started.

Choose The Right Domain

I’m assuming you’ve already purchased your domain name. If not, now’s a good time to do so. Having a.com domain is the most ideal solution because it is the simplest to remember and it tends to be the most popular extension. Make sure you register this domain name with a reputable domain registrar like GoDaddy. And don’t worry, they’re not going to charge you over $12 a year for this convenience.

Setup The HTML File

After you’ve registered your domain name, it’s time to setup the HTML file that will serve as your website’s homepage. For this example, I’m using WordPress because it is the simplest and most popular content management system (CMS). You can download it for free from the official WordPress website. Just remember: if you’re looking for a one-page website, then WordPress is not for you. It’s not made for that. But for real estate businesses in particular, it is the perfect fit because it allows you to build a highly customized homepage without having to know html or CSS.

After you’ve downloaded WordPress, visit its dashboard to create a new WordPress site. Alternatively, you can use the search bar to find the correct URL, which will then take you to the WordPress dashboard.

Select A Theme For The Website

Although you can use any theme for your WordPress site, I’m going to show you how to create a sleek, modern look for your website using the twentyfourteen theme by WordPress. You can purchase this theme for $25 from the WordPress website. Once you’ve logged in to your WordPress dashboard, click on the theme tab to view the available themes.

Install The Theme Customizer

With the theme customizer window open, it’s time to upload your own theme’s logo and set the background color and image for your website. As you can see in the screenshot below, the logo I’ve uploaded is the TWENTYFOUR theme’s default logo. Once you’ve set these options, it’s time to click on the Save Theme button at the top of the page. You can also choose to make these changes permanent by clicking on the Custom Theme button instead.

Create Some Content

Now that your theme is set up, it’s time to start creating content for your website. Just like with any other website, this content will serve as the building blocks of your site. In this case, I’m going to create an about page that will contain the following:

  • A short description of your business
  • Your sales page
  • Some sample product pages
  • A blog
  • A FAQ page
  • A contact us page
  • A privacy policy page
  • And maybe even an errors or disclaimers page
  • If we’re feeling extra creative, maybe even a 404 page.

Since this is going to be your website’s homepage, I’m going to show you how to create a sleek, modern looking sales page that will help you convert visitors into paying customers. So, let’s get started.

Set Up Your Sales Page

To create your sales page, you’re going to use the drag and drop functionality in WordPress to add content in the form of a sidebar. You can use the top area of your website as your sidebar. In my case, I’ve used the left corner because it gave me more room to work. To make this page more appealing to customers, add a bit of design elegance by using a sans-serif font for the headline (Futura is my favorite). And don’t forget to add some visuals to make it more interesting.

Once you’ve added the headline and uploaded your logo, it’s time to add content to your sales page. To add content to your page, first click on the Add Content link at the top of the WordPress dashboard. Then, click on the Add Media button (the one with the plus sign) to upload an image or video to accompany your content.

Make Sure Your Links Are Working

Last but not least, it’s time to test out your website’s links. Just like your logo, your website’s links should feature your brand’s colors and styling. For the purposes of this article, I’m using the brand colors Dark Orange and English Ivy with a modern design. So, if you’re already using these colors in your logo and branding, then use them here too.

To test out your links, log in to your WordPress dashboard and click on the Network link at the top. You should be taken to your WordPress network dashboard. On the left side, you’ll see a list of all your links. From here, you can click on any one of these links to view the page the link leads to.

If you’ve been following along so far, you should now have a fully functioning WordPress website with a clean, modern appearance. Just to recap, here’s what you did:

  • Logged into your WordPress dashboard
  • Clicked on the Theme tab
  • Clicked on the twentyfourteen theme
  • Activated the theme customizer
  • Clicked on the Add Content button
  • Clicked on the Add Media button to upload a logo and image
  • Clicked on the Save Theme button
  • Created an about page
  • Set up a sales page
  • Tested out your links

As you can see, creating a sales page using WordPress is extremely easy. And with the help of the WordPress Customizer, making subtle changes to the appearance of your site is a snap. So, if you’re looking to create an online store, then I’d definitely recommend WordPress because it’s very flexible and you can make changes yourself if necessary. But if you’re happy with the way things are now, then you can simply activate the twentyfourteen theme and get started selling your products.
