Integration is a key word when it comes to growth hacking. In digital marketing, integration means connecting one channel to another – typically a website channel like Google Analytics to a sales channel like HubSpot. When you integrate channels, you’re taking advantage of all the work that went into creating a successful website – attracting, engaging, and converting customers – and applying that same logic to the effort required to attract, engage, and convert sales.

While it’s beneficial to connect all your channels in one place, it’s not always practical – especially if you’re trying to keep things simple. That’s why growth hackers look for ways to integrate smaller channels into larger ones – so you can take advantage of the scale that larger platforms afford you.

An example of integration between channels would be integrating your email marketing with your social media to attract online shoppers who are already engaging with your brand on social media.

Here’s a simplified guide to showing you how to integrate Sendlane with Clickfunnels.

Step 1: Set Up Your Account With Clickfunnels

Like most companies today, you’ll start by registering with Clickfunnels. This is a highly recommended affiliate manager that allows you to create landing pages to collect emails, follow up with marketing efforts like email marketing, and track performance (more on that in a bit).

You’ll want to keep your email marketing separate from your social media efforts for now – it makes sense to keep them as two separate entities for the sake of simplicity. You can integrate them later on when you have more experience.

Once you have your account set up, you can navigate to the Integrations section in the dashboard. Here you’ll see all the channels that Clickfunnels supports natively.

From the list, you can see that Sendlane is supported – which is great news if you’re looking to integrate with this popular email marketing plugin. (If you need help, check out our Sendlane Review or read our guide to understanding Sendlane.)

Step 2: Configure Your Email Campaign In Sendlane

From the Integrations section in the dashboard, you can click on the “+” next to Sendlane to see all the configuration options for the plugin. As mentioned, you can integrate your email marketing with your social media to drive traffic to your store. However, if you need a simple way to just collect emails, this is the perfect solution.

To configure your email marketing, you’ll want to click on the EMail tab at the top of the page. After that, you can enter the details for your email template (including what inbox you want to send the email to, whether you want subjects or not, etc.).

You can also enter a few words to describe the campaign, what it does, and who it’s for – in other words, create a short blurb for the sake of the subject line. The last step is to select Automated Follow-Up from the drop-down menu and then click Save. (Learn more about automating email campaigns with Sendlane.)

Step 3: Use The Email Templates Clickfunnels Provides

Having a well-created and tested email template is essential for any email marketing campaign. Luckily for you, Clickfunnels provides several email templates that you can use – so you don’t have to worry about creating your own emails from scratch.

As a new user, you’ll want to visit the Templates section in the dashboard and click on the Add New Template button to see the popular templates.

Here you’ll see a variety of templates designed for different marketing efforts like email, social media, and display ads. You can choose from a wide array of professionally designed templates or create your own from scratch using one of the many drag-and-drop editor tools that Clickfunnels provides. (Need help? Step 4: Create Your First Landing Page

A landing page is an essential component of any growth hacker’s arsenal. A landing page is a web page that you create to encourage visitors to take a specific action – like make a purchase, download a white paper, or sign up for a free trial. (More on growth hacking in general here.)

In order to integrate Sendlane with Clickfunnels, you’ll want to create a new landing page in your WordPress site to host your email marketing. You can use the pre-built landing pages or the WordPress dashboard to do this – it’s up to you. (Learn more about creating a WordPress landing page.)

To get started, navigate to the Widgets section in the dashboard and then drag and drop a Static HTML widget on your page. This will be the container for your email signup form.

You’ll then want to add one more widget to the page, this time a Dynamic HTML one – the important thing to note here is that both of these widgets are embedded in an iframe, so you can still have full control over your content even when the email signup form appears on your page.

Step 5: Create Your First Email Blast

Once you have a landing page set up with a form, you can start to build your email list by using the email signup form to send out a quick email blast to your curated email list. (If you need help, our How to Build an Email List guide explains everything you need to know about creating an email list.)

The next step is to look at the list of subscribers you just created and decide which ones to reach out to first. It’s generally a good idea to try and speak to everyone on your list – but not always practical. You can use a tool like HubSpot Email Marketing to segment your list into groups based on shared interests or behaviors. For example, if you notice that most of your subscribers are based in the United States, you can create another segment containing only Americans.

Once you’ve segmented your list, you can choose the outreach method that works best for you – whether you want to send one-off emails to small groups or if you want to send out a weekly email update to all your subscribers.

Step 6: Use the Email Signup Form to Scale Your Efforts

The final step in integrating Sendlane with Clickfunnels is to take advantage of the form you created in the previous step. Once you have a steady stream of email subscribers, you can use the email signup form to send out regular email updates with tips and tricks on how to grow your business. (If you need help, check out our Grow Your Email List Using Email Marketing guide.)

As you get more experienced with growth hacking, you can start to think about integrating other channels like YouTube and Facebook – which is when things get interesting.
